1. Who We Are

Forever Fireflies ("we," "us," "our") is a mobile application operated by Forever Fireflies. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at foreverfirefliesapp@gmail.com.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the app experience — store your entries, play back recordings, sync across devices
• AI-assisted features — journal entry text (not audio) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate titles, clean up transcripts, and suggest tags. Because parents naturally say their children's names in recordings, transcripts sent for processing may contain children's names and personal details. We do not send child records, user IDs, or audio files to any AI service. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy
• Send notifications — your daily recording reminder at the time you set
• Improve the app — analytics help us understand what's working and what needs fixing
• Process payments — manage your subscription through RevenueCat and the app stores

4. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted services to run the app. Each receives only the data it needs to do its job.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

5. Children's Privacy

Forever Fireflies is designed for parents and guardians, not for children. Only the parent or guardian creates an account, enters children's information, and uses the app.

We collect children's names and birthdays so the app can organize entries by child and show age-appropriate prompts. Voice recordings may naturally include children's voices when a parent records a memory.

Here's how we protect children's information:

• Children's personal information is never shared with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes
• Children's names and birthdays are stored securely in our database and are only accessible to the parent who entered them
• We do not knowingly send children's names to analytics or crash-reporting services
• Audio files (which may contain children's voices) are stored in private, user-isolated storage — no other user can access them
• Parents can view, edit, or delete all of their children's information at any time from the app

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without parental consent, please contact us at foreverfirefliesapp@gmail.com and we will delete the account promptly.

6. Data Storage and Security

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
• Audio recordings are stored in private, user-isolated storage buckets — only you can access your files
• Database access is protected by row-level security — each user can only read and modify their own data
• Voice recordings are transcribed on your device. The raw audio is uploaded only to our secure storage for your playback — it is never sent to any AI or analytics service
• Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with support for Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, and email

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Account data: kept as long as your account is active
• Deleted entries: moved to "Recently Deleted" for 30 days, then permanently erased (including audio files)
• Account deletion: when you delete your account, all associated data (entries, recordings, children's profiles) is permanently removed. You can delete your account from the app settings or via our web form
• Analytics data: retained according to PostHog's and Sentry's standard retention periods

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data — your entries, recordings, and children's profiles are all visible in the app
• Correct your data — edit entries, update children's info, and change your account details at any time
• Delete your data — delete individual entries or your entire account from the app settings
• Export your data — request a copy of all your entries and recordings by emailing us
• Opt out of analytics — contact us to opt out of non-essential tracking

9. For California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email foreverfirefliesapp@gmail.com.

10. International Users

If you are located outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to this transfer. If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (when you create an account and enter information) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving the app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
